Flowers and Food, Oct.21, 2013 - UK

I awoke cured this morning.  Evidently I was suffering from severe allergies and not a cold.  I read that it takes 48 hours for allergens to clear the body.  Like clockwork, today my head was clear and the sneezing and itchy eye were gone.  I still have pink eye in the left eye which can be caused by allergies as well as by bacterial infection.
Today we went to Louise's.  Emily had the day off from work.  We drove over to a nice garden center/store for a look around. They had flowers and bird feeders and farm fresh foods and baked goods as well as furniture and kitchen and gift items.
After our browsing expedition, we went to lunch at our favorite local pub, The Crown.  I ate Bangers and Mash and a dessert of Steamed Sticky Toffee Pudding with Calvados ice cream, whipped cream, warm custard and English Walnuts.
Tomorrow we are off to Winchester to meet friends for lunch and maybe a quick tour of the cathedral later.  We haven't been there in ten years or so.

That must've been a really bad attack of an allergy, have you an idea what triggered it? Glad to hear you've recovered and able to eat and see everyone. Talking of farm food we have the most wonderful farm food shop right out in the mioddle of nowhere. The nearby village residents refuse to have signs on any of the roads, even my sat nav was silenced trying to find it. Give it its due there was still a map maintained. They have the most wonderful large potatoes for jackets, bought in specially. Not seen those potatoes for years, last ones if you remember, Janet and David, was in a Pub (Shaggy Calf?) in Hambleden Valley. a lot of the veg is straight out of the ground, so fresh and good. Three butchers behind the counter even on a Sunday.

One of the butchers reckoned he couldn't even find the place on his first day at work, he said very few customers find it on first attempt! Dina and I did it second time from different direction; I missed a turning and did a scenic tour of West Berkshire in pouring rain. At least she persuaded me not to turn and go through a ford that day which I was tempted to do out of desperation trying to find the way..

I'm from Winchester! Okay, well, Winchester, MA, but even there, the architecture would remind you of Merrie Olde England. :) So glad to hear the nasal woes are over!
